The Career Day Kampala at Clerk International University

Clerk International University hosted “CareerDayKampala” on Saturday 1st October 2022 under a theme career choices and growth in changing economic times. This was to cebrate and show case key career opportunities with the reference to what Global Health Corps and Clerk International University Alumni have become because of the push both GHC and CIU.

This is an annual event that ran under the collaboration between Clerk International University (CIU) Alumni and the Global Health Corps (GHC) alumni that aimed to rally support and action towards strengthening career development and recognizing GHC and CIU leaders championing various impactful initiatives on health equity, leadership and other critical roles in society.

The event was also graced with different speakers who shared their different stories that were inspiring and touching.

Mrs. Bonita Beatrice Nanziri a software engineer, innovator and Entrepreneur was the chief guest speaker,  she advised us  to take advantage of the opportunities around us , attend every tech event in the city and through this we would learn the majority of things even out of school. she also addressed a question that was paused by one of the journalists “how would a student handle a situation where he or she is both working and studying?” everyone has priorities, and education in this case should be a priority, yes money is needed but education is the future and one would choose to take evening classes and work during day but still do both at different times so that you do not fail to balance.

She also advised the students in particular to take risks and say yes to opportunities, they would never know who would need them. she also added that schools only give us degrees but there is more to that and employers only want what you bring on the table .

Mrs. Namutebi Ruth Elizabeth also shared with the Alumni and the guests that she was born HIV positive and this made her life so hard. She was always rejected but that did not stop her from moving forward and force herself into offices. You need to be confident and aggressive to attain and get what you want

She further added that social media is not a tool to show case new shoes and new hair style but you can do advertise what you are doing because your contacts are your first customers and also taught us to learn how to be strategic.

Figure out your strength and weaknesses and learn how to work around them, think outside the box , be different and you will always stand out

it was an amazing and important career talk  that everyone needed to build their career .
