Millions of Pilgrims feel Namugongo Martyrs Shrine.

Thousands of pilgrims stated flocking Namugongo martyrs shrine walking long distances from their homes. According to information from the Catholic Church shows that over 2 million pilgrims are to participate in the Martyrs Day celebrations for the 3rd June 2022 as Fort portal diocese led by bishop Robert Muhirwa will animate this year’s celebrations.

Thousands of pilgrims stated flocking Namugongo martyrs shrine walking long distances from their homes. According to information from the Catholic Church shows that over 2 million pilgrims are to participate in the Martyrs Day celebrations for the 3rd June 2022 as Fort portal diocese led by bishop Robert Muhirwa will animate this year’s celebrations.

The Police Spokesperson, Fred Enanga said that joint security task teams have been deployed at all venues in Namugongo where pilgrims expected to gather for Martyrs Day celebrations on Friday, June 3.

This celebrations are expected to attract thousands of pilgrims who will gather at four different sites in Namugongo including; Namugongo Catholic Martyrs Shrine, Namugongo Anglican Martyrs Shrine, Namugongo and Mamre Prayer Centre.

The pilgrims include children, youth, adults and people from other countries like Tanzania, DRC, and Kenya that also came along by feet and others by bus to celebrate the Marty’s day.

The security is very tight as the military and police have been deployed at all the gates leading to Namugongo as they check every person who enters to ensure the security of every pilgrim.

However every person has been cautioned of being aware of their goods and of the people around them.
