They were the best duo group of all time who was exceptional like diamonds in Uganda.
Death Is what separates us from our loved ones but memories are always treasured and unbreakable but leave a hole in our lives. The songs of the goodlyf boys are memories left to fans by the late mowzey radio and shall always be remained played on radios, televisions, and social media platforms.
Inspiration, songwriter, father, and best vocalist singer mowzey radio departed on a saddening day on 1st February 2018. in his lyrical song (breath Away), “I can be your African Michael Jackson” he truly became the Ugandan Michael Jackson and was taking his talent to the African continent and globally.
It’s unbelievable that two strangers become friends and later family because of their talent. They showed us family is not made by blood only but the actions. Late Moses nakintije ssekibogo (mowzey radio) and Douglas Mayanja(weasel). Late 2007 saw these rocks emerge with their first singles ngamba and nakudata sparked the journey of the goodlyf crew.
When I was young, I rhymed to songs like bread and butter, Zuena, ability, and many more. but these incredible goodlyf crew, radio, and weasel kept on bringing more mixture to spice up the music industry in Uganda. The amazing intact made these two celestials as their love brought them to a magnetic force always.
In 2015, these boys won the best activist anthem in the honesty Oscars with their song “corruption”. Still, in the same year, they won song of the year neera, an album of the year amaaso, ntunga, and best RnB song (neera)s, even thou some songs didn’t scoop awards made they climb into the nomination category in the BET black entertainment television awards for a Best international act in Africa, and MTV Awards for the best collaboration category (kiboko change). They didn’t only scoop international awards and nominations but as locally in the zzina awards, and HiPipo music awards.
Five years down the road, many a legend is gone, for family members, a friend, a father and a son are out of the picture but still holding memories that made ssekibogo the great man of all time in our faces and hearts. Though to some he is not a legend, I strongly disagree with them because to become a legend you have to be praised by the majority voices, fill a vacuum that will always be felt when you are no longer there, and even be an inspiration for your talent and skills to them.
Without radio, goodlyf wouldn’t be there and without weasel, goodlyf wouldn’t also be there. This was the inseparable bond of radio and weasel that always spiced the music to our ears. Gone is the songwriter giant who wrote what everyone was thinking in their mind, something that made them fall with the music.
Thousands will try to sing like radio but his voice will remain exceptional. God blesses everyone differently. The legend still rings in our minds the moment we hear a song by Wesel and the radio.
“Juicy Juicy” is truly the voice of late mowzey radio. A legend was born on 25th January 1985 and departed on 1st February 2018. Always the duo of radio and weasel will be the perfect match in the Ugandan music industry.
