The electoral commission of Uganda Martyrs University has today announced Nsubuga Emmanuel Francis as the newly elected Union president after winning Tugume Denise Kihembo with whom they have been racing.
Nsubuga won with over 502 votes and a difference of approximately 223 votes as Denise had 279 votes. The two students under the faculty of Business Administration and Management first showed power and commitment in a presidential debate that was organised by the electoral commission on 28/4/2022 where they promised to work on the problems faced by the UMU students such as the delayed release of results, insufficient rooms for lectures and the expensive retake fees.
Nsubuga Emmanuel Francis is now the 28th president of the Students Union of Uganda Martyrs University and according to the electoral commission, he will be swearing in after the elections of the governors of the different campuses of UMU; that is Ngetta campus, Mbale campus, Rubaga campus, Fortportral campus and Nsambya campus which is expected to be done by early May.
Thank you so much for the update.
