Can you introduce yourself and share a bit about your background
My name is Mugeni Yvonne Isabella. I am a graduate of Makerere University with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and communication. I am the first born from my mum and a proud samia…. I am enterprising, fun, outgoing, hardworking, simple unless tampered with but most importantly, God fearing
How have your early experiences influenced your journey in acting
I grew up loving telenovelas, soaps and dramas.. but honestly, I never saw myself in that field. It was until this day when I received a call from a friend that there was an opportunity and I decided to try it and see how it goes and that was beginning of the new journey
Is Yvone dating
😂😂😂😂about dating, I will not disclose!!! Status is complicated
Away from acting what else do you do or what else have you done in your career
I am a communications personnel in the Higher Education Students Financing Board. I have an ushering business, I also do emceeing on events and I have started to commercialize. by the way I also did radio and I would love to venture it again if opportunity avails itself
What is that one talent that you are most most proud of and has been able to help you achieve a lot
.my good oratory skills.. They have given me the platform for most of my career abilities like communication, emceeing, ushering because you should know how to talk to so you can deliver good client service.
Would you share your insights about your time during the fellowship and specifically how the mentorship program contributed to your current journalistic path?
The fellowship was a new experience, a good experience and very fulfilling. There was a lot to learn from different students and trainers all of whom were smart and knowledgeable. I loved how we would be out in teams to accomplish tasks.
My mentorship journey was one of the best.. I don’t wanna brag but Antonio and Kyamagero Andrew were my best men!! I had a fall back for everything. I evolved, I grew, I was taught and they were always one call away!!! I can’t thank them enough for their support all through. Thanks to them, I was motivated to be confident enough to do the things I love in life
When it comes to spending quality time do you prefer indoor or outdoor adventure for an ideal date
I prefer outdoor adventure
How do you manoeuvre through a lot of things you handle and still stay focused
I am just organized enough. When a week starts, I have a lay out of what I am going to do so I ensure that I plan accordingly to fit my schedule. If there’s a lot of baggage, I can decide to prioritize and leave out the least important
What does Yvone like doing in her free time ?
I love to have fun in any way. Going out, dancing, movies and series especially in the cinema, am a foodie so anything to do with eating and always happy! I also read and listen to music. But also take time to have God in my schedule
Any successful decisions that you made that had an impact on your career growth that you would like to share
one of them is choosing to move with God.. there is a lot I am grateful for to the Almighty. But also I chose to study what I wanted and chose a career path that best suits my personality. Whatever I am doing now, I love it and it is me.
Who is your inspiration in your career journey
My mentor kyamagero Andrew!!! He has an all -round personality and I want that!! To be able to do many things and do them well
Who is that person you are grateful to ?
I am grateful to my mum for sacrificing all the little she had to see me through school. I am also my two mentors, kyamagero and Antonio, for believing in me and always having my back. and to my uncle called Pastor Opio for his prayers and for always believing in me!!
What is your advice to young people / young actresses who aspire to be like you
Be passionate about your work and look for the right opportunities . The wrong opportunities will only exploit you and your worth demeaned. People in the Ugandan arts industry don’t always value the creators of this art. At all costs, do your best and know your worth . Learn to say no to offers that seem appealing , but are not worth your time.
Where do you see Yvone in five years to come?
😃😃I see myself as a wife to a handsome, rich , generous man with 2 children. I also see myself as successful PR person perhaps not in Uganda and a star actress . I have big dreams, and I hope to actualize most of them with in the next five years
But I also want to do charity works and help lots of in dire situations across Africa
