LUMUMBA HALL CLOSED
Makerere University is set to close their biggest halls of residence Lumumba hall; this follows a letter that was issued by the vice chancellor prof. Barnabas Nawangwe to the Dean of students Ms. Winfred Kabumbuli.
According to prof. Nawangwe, the government continuing students that are currently accommodated in Lumumba hall should vacate and relocate to other halls.
“Lumumba hall should be closed with immediate effect to pave way for renovation students currently accommodated in Lumumba hall should be re located to the other halls of residence “
This was discussed and decided by the university central committee meeting that was held on 12th September 2022.
A student of Makerere University says that “the closure of the Lumumba hall is insensitive because the semester just closed and most of the students have gone back to their homes so the immediate closure of the hall would find students not around to shift their property and he wonders if the university guarantees the safety.
