An inspirational training program for students from journalism & media to compete, as well showcase talent in news gathering, production & presentation at the same time learning from the expert trainers & journalists in the media industry.
On Thursday 1st September, our Head of Training Antonio Kisembo conducted a mobile storytelling workshop at the St. Lawrence University in Rubaga, on the outskirts of Kampala. The journalism students learnt how to shoot ,edit and produce compelling stories using their smartphones, the modern-day pocket studios. They produced a couple of stories that were reviewed by our mobile journalism (MOJO) trainer Antonio. On Friday, the students got to learn the art of youth participatory radio storytelling that highly engages the audience under the stewardship of Ali Kakembo, our Radio Manager.
To wrap up the MCI Mobile Newsroom, on Saturday 3rd September, we held the auditions for Season 12 of the Inter-Institutional Media Challenge (IMC) at the university. This attracted a number of great talents in news anchoring, live reporting and presentation.

The MCI Mobile Newsroom program is designed for young journalists who are just starting their careers or interested in making the switch to the media. The panel of judges at the #MCIMobileNewsroom auditions offer constructive feedback to the different contestants to help them learn on this journey to becoming the next generation of journalists .
The objective of this training is to introduce young journalists to the media industry, foster partnerships, harness expertise, and position them for successful careers in the media sphere. This program is proudly supported by the DW Akademie, Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) in Uganda and South Sudan and the Segal Family Foundation.
